Interested in a conference on Maternal and Infant Health – from a Global and Travel Heath perspective?

The British Global and Travel Health Association is holding
its 16th Annual Conference on 29th March 2014

The venue is Edinburgh University South Hall Conference Suite

The theme is
‘Maternal and Infant Health – from a Global and Travel Heath perspective’

This time it is being organised by the BGTHA in collaboration with the Institute of International Health and Development at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Global and Travel Health students who are members of Medsin (Medical Students International).

Also involved is the Scottish and Irish Global Health Teaching Network (SIGHTNet) and the Faculty of Travel Medicine (FTM) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow.

This exciting new initiative will demonstrate the closely overlapping interests of various organisations involved in Global and Travel Health. We hope also to attract participants from specialties such as obstetrics and paediatrics as well as representatives from charities, voluntary and non-Government Organisations (NGOs) involved in overseas health care projects.

The conference will include a keynote address followed by three 1 1/2 hour symposia one being lead by each of the collaborating organisations. These will look at issues relating to regional and cultural variations in the provision of services, clinical facilities for the care of mothers and infants in different parts of the world and the implications for travellers, expatriates and migrants.

Each symposium will comprise one ‘plenary’ talk for all followed by 3 parallel ‘break out sessions’ when participants can attend smaller group workshops on a subject of their choice lead by an expert in the field.

Please put the date in your diary now and you can register your interest at http://www.bgtha.org/Conference2014.asp
