How many people infected with ebola die?

The WHO says that “up to 90%” of people with ebola die – but how meaningful is this figure?

A good summary of the current ebola outbreak, and a description of the case fatality rate, which is a very important measure in an outbreak situation. Ebola is unusual in having such a high rate – even the low end of the scale (41%) is higher than we see with most infectious diseases.
